Judith Stephens (South Australia) President of the Australian Rugmakers Guild, is a fibre artist, and a participant in both the Fleurieu Art Trail and the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festivals.
Judith, currently a member of The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers (TIGHR), was a Panel participant at the TIGHR conference ( USA ) in 2009.
As Vice President of TIGHR (2009-2012) Judith convened a very successful TIGHR Conference held in Strathalbyn , South Australia , October 2012.
2008 Judith, was co-founder, now President of the Australian Rugmakers Guild, representing rugmakers from around Australia . Her preference is to use the methods of the early rugmakers in the UK, and utilise recycled fabrics and wool yarns.
2011 Judith was invited by Gene Shepherd (noted author and international lecturer) to teach at a popular rug event in California.
2013 Judith taught a workshop at the ATHA Biennial in Longbeach, California, USA.
2015 Judith taught a workshop at the TIGHR Triennial Conference in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Her work has featured in both magazine and book publications.
Judith is constantly in demand as a presenter and lecturer in the art of rug hooking as it applies to current social conditions and within the context of Australian pioneer women’s history.
